All considered I guess completely unrelated, but I went for a haircut yesterday and almost stepped on a flattened rat in the parking lot.

Just ten minutes ago I was in the driveway dealing death to a mouse that had been caught in a rat traps that I'd set. Its leg was mangled but it was very much alive. It was only a mouse but killing it was very stressful.

My cat once brought a half eaten (complete ass end, legs and all were gone) , yet still alive, bird to my back door. I opened the door amd the cat dropped the bird which proceeded to fly across my house, hitting my front window. Cat ran and grabbed the bird, bringing it back to me, and I killed it. Kids watched the whole thing happen (minus me killing it). Stressful as hell, but the cat thought it was awesome.

i know chickens can run around without heads for a bit....i didnt know that aplied to all birds tho....that neck was broke

(i know this coz i shook the trap when i picked it up to bin it...man..shit aint meant to move that way)

I have a worse one. I accidentally backed over a rat in a parking garage at work. It was my assigned spot. I didn’t realize until the next afternoon when my entire Miata smelled like dead rat.

Bonus fun: when a mouse crawls into the warm exhaust pipe in the fall and finds his way pretty far up the tail pipe. You start the car and fooooop - exploded mouse all over the driveway. That use to happen at least once/year in New England.

I think, if anything, nuggets>dead complete bird is a de-escalation. One day she'll just be throwing live un-battered birds over your fence.

Gross story time? A friend of mine was riding his bike on the shoulder one day and could see a dead animal on the road up ahead. No worries. It was in the road, not the shoulder. It was recently dead and hadn’t been flattened.

As he got next to it, a car whooshed by and ran over the dead animal. It’s guts exploded all over him. Both he and his bike were covered by dead animal splooge and poop. He said the  ride home wasn’t pleasant.

Does someone around you have a bird House trap setup?  I know I’ve thought about it when we had a woodpecker problem at our house.  Looks like a birdhouse from the outside but has a mousetrap rigged up inside to bait and kill the birds.  Or maybe the bird likes cheese or peanut butter and just sprung the trap.

No bird house traps nearby that I know of... possible I guess...tho I don't know why anyone would want to kill sparrows....they don't really bother anyone
